VAIDAH MY VILLAGE GIRL
By Ken Kagali

Vaidah my village girl,
Do you remember our old days,
Our trips to and from the river,
How you cried with my name under the tree.
I miss our local gossips,
Your random visits,
The silly fights with Shikwekwe ,
And the funny lines of love.
Under the mangoe tree,
That rainy evening,
When you wore my coat,
I Hope you remember,
Do you remember Mr Wambululu,
How he ashamed; canned us on the assembly,
As he read our love letters,
And forced us to “get married”.
Hope you remember all this,
Vaidah my village girl,
Our last day behind your father’s Kitchen,
And the potful promises.
Today I remembered our last date,
That late at night in the cold,
Persued by a night runner,
And my tears just dropped… I miss you.
Vaidah My VillageGirl!
