CHAINS OF FREEDOM

©Bonface Otieno.

The blind vendor didn’t see
A rogue citizen steal his merchendize
He is blessed the blind vendor,
Very blessed he could not see the vice;
Inflicted on him by friends, own people.

I want to grow deaf that I hear not,
Fruitless seasoned lies
Orchestrated like tunes of legend Maestros
Until it’s cultured to my ears and blood.
To believe truth is a barbaric envy
And deception is true instead.

Did you not see the dumb fellow?
He silently watches and sighs
To himself sighs again to what he can’t say.
He can smell the decay,
But he is free, in his chains, he is free
From the rotten world around him.
His heavy tongue is the only Christ
That saves him from the chopping board,
of heathen Gentiles set for hell.

Take my eyes let me free
Take my tongue let me free
Chain my ears let me free
Numb my limbs let me free
Let me free from a wicked world
Wicked things
Wicked friends and foe.
Confine me and in this confinement
May I find the freedom I seek.
