Beatrice Murage (BM)
( Teacher, Storyteller & Literary Voice)
Beatrice Murage—affectionately known as BM—hails from Kirinyaga, where she grew up deeply inspired by reading. From age ten, she cherished stories in Parents magazine, especially “Real-Life Experiences” and “It Happened to Me”, as well as Wahome Mutahi’s “Whispers” series, all of which fueled her creative spark early on .
She attended Kirinyaga Girls Secondary School, followed by Eregi Teachers Training College, and later pursued a degree in English and Literature at St. Paul’s University, cementing both her academic and personal investment in language and stories.
With over a decade of dedicated service at KBA Group of Schools, Beatrice has applied her love of language directly in the classroom as an English teacher, and also lectures part‑time in Kiambu County . Her dual roles—as educator and author—intertwine, each enriching the other: insights from her students help inform authentic, relatable characters and scenarios in her writing .
From Facebook Storyteller (as idler to to Published Novel- Best seller)
Beatrice’s entry into authorship began in a digital space: “Blue Kanyoni” was originally posted in episodes on Facebook, where it gained unexpected and enthusiastic attention from readers. As demand grew, she resolved to transform the serialized story into a book .
Undertaking the rigorous journey of manuscript preparation, she submitted the initial drafts to Bleeding Ink Scribes Publishers, who provided constructive critique. Over three months of intense revision, Beatrice refined and polished the work for publication .

Blue Kanyoni (2024): Themes & Impact
Released in 2024 by Bleeding Ink Scribes Publishers, Blue Kanyoni unfolds as a compelling debut novel blending authenticity and imagination . Inspired partly by real figures from her childhood, the novel explores universal themes such as identity, community, resilience, and transformation .
Crucially, it also tackles culturally resonant issues—such as polygamy, the tug-of-war between traditional practices and modern life, and economic disparity—embedding social commentary within a vivid narrative tapestry .
Beatrice’s style is marked by vivid imagery, emotional depth, and linguistic richness, including use of local dialects to bring her characters and settings to life. Her narratives are thoughtfully structured through planning and consistent revision, ensuring clarity and powerful pacing .
Through Blue Kanyoni, she contributes to Kenyan literature not simply as an entertainer but as a social advocate—one who uses narrative to foster empathy, spark conversation, and champion cultural awareness, especially among the rising wave of women writers shaping neo‑Kenyan literary expression .
Beyond her roles in education and writing, BM represents a vibrant new voice in Kenyan letters: an educator who writes, a writer who teaches, and a cultural commentator who listens. Her path—starting from childhood reading, to Facebook storytelling, to published novelist—illustrates the power of passion, resilience, and community connection.
Blue kanyoni is a book that keeps you glued to it page after page. It is a book everyone should be looking forward to read.
