Call for Manuscript Submissions

Writing your mother tongue, reclaiming your heritage

Bleeding Ink Scribes Publishers Ltd is delighted to announce a special publishing initiative aimed at celebrating and preserving Africa’s rich linguistic and cultural heritage. We are calling upon writers, poets, storytellers, and cultural custodians from across the continent and the diaspora to submit fully developed manuscripts written in any African vernacular language (mother tongue).

This initiative is rooted in the belief that our native languages are not only dying vessels of communication but also  powerful archives of memory, tradition, and identity under threat of extinction. By writing in our mother tongues, we affirm our histories and breathe new life into the voices of our ancestors. We reclaim our motherland’s pride.

What We Offer:

  • Free publication for selected manuscripts.
  • Two complimentary author copies of the fully published book.
  • Global exposure through our publishing platforms and networks.
  • Invitation to our inaugural conference for the year 2026

Eligibility & Submission Guidelines:

  • Manuscripts must be written entirely in an African vernacular language. Works in translation may be considered if accompanied by the original text.

    Accepted categories include:
  • Children’s stories
  • Young adult literature
  • Adult fiction and non-fiction
  • Proverbs and wise sayings
  • Poetry and songs
  • Oral narratives
  • Novels and novellas
  1. Manuscripts must center on themes of African culture, heritage, identity, and history.
  2. Submissions must be original, unpublished works, and authors must hold the rights to their content.
  3. Illustrations, where appropriate—especially for children’s books or proverbs—are encouraged but not mandatory.
  4. Preferred manuscript format: typed, double-spaced, in Word document
  5. Submission Deadline: 30th August 2026
  6. Submit to: info@bleedinginkscribespublishers.com
Subject line: Vernacular Manuscript Submission – [Author Name]

Selection & Publication Process:

  • A panel of cultural editors and language experts will review the submissions.
  • Authors whose manuscripts are selected will receive a publishing agreement, editorial support, and cover design tailored to their work’s cultural context.

Let us amplify the wisdom of our elders, the imagination of our children, and the resilience of our people—of one story, one language, one voice at a time.
